Solve A Math Crime

Show off your math skills and solve a crime at the same time. In this website designed for middle school students, several unique crimes and stories can be solved by answering math questions to get to the bottom of what happened. For every question answered correctly, a new clue is revealed until the criminal's identity is discovered or the story is solved. The questions used are written by a volunteer team based off those found in math competitions, and are meant to be distinct from the types of problems found in a textbook. This allows students to sharpen their critical thinking skills, practice word problems, and discover more ways that math can be applied to their lives. In addition, we write problems of the month throughout the school year that are more challenging than the math used in the crimes.
